For me, the tech industry is a continuous process of development. Every day, new tools and frameworks emerge that make it possible to take something existing and make it faster, smarter, or better.
The pace of change has only accelerated with AI. New tools are constantly being introduced, but the real value comes from knowing how to integrate them into your own workflow and use them effectively.
Improvement is a mindset
Even before AI, there were always ways to improve and optimise the way we work. No matter which tools we have available, it is important to reflect on how we can get the most out of them.
I see myself as my own tool. I constantly ask: How can I improve the way I work? How can I optimise my time, my energy, and the quality of what I create?
One example is how I think about energy and performance. Just like elite esports athletes have started focusing on physical training, I have experienced how movement gives me more mental capacity. When I take care of my energy, I become better at spotting details, solving problems, and creating a more polished result.
Another example is my decision to use a split keyboard. I chose it because I wanted better control, learn new shortcuts, and reduce strain from spending many hours coding. It was a small change, but it was a way of recognising a pattern and finding an opportunity to improve.
Development happens through small optimisations
For me, improvement is not about making everything perfect from the beginning. It is about noticing patterns and asking whether something can be done smarter. Small tasks have a compounding effect. Why click through a menu if a shortcut can do the same thing faster?
Development is not something that happens once in a while. It is a continuous process of small adjustments and small improvements that, over time, create a big difference — both in the quality of the work and in the way we work.
